RedR

Take your skills where they are most needed

Water Recruitment solutions is delighted to help RedR in getting their message to water professionals.

RedR Australia is seeking technical experts for short term placements in humanitarian relief deployments overseas. If you have skills in water and sanitation, RedR would like to hear from you.

RedR Australia is experiencing record levels of international assignments. Countries of deployment this year have included Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Chad, Geneva, Kenya, Malawi, Nepal, Rome, Somalia, Sudan, Swaziland, Timor Leste and the Maldives. Assignments are varied and include engineering, logistics, GIS, IT and communications and water and sanitation.

Staff are deployed overseas through RedR’s standby register. Deployees are paid a salary and return with invaluable international experience and a sense of achievement. Some of the big challenges on deployment are the hardships of the local environment and the limited available resources.

Most deployments with RedR Australia are with international agencies such as the UN High Commission for Refugees, the UN Childrens Fund (UNICEF), the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, and the World Food Programme. They are usually for three to six months duration.

To be considered for deployment, you should have a number of years of professional experience. You also need to have genuine humanitarian commitment and be available to deploy at short notice. You will be required to undertake specialist training, to help you apply your skills in an humanitarian relief setting. This training also helps to provide an
appreciation of the personal health and security issues associated with being deployed in a disaster relief situation.

Further information is available at www.redr.org.au or by telephoning (03) 9329 1357.
